Project Overview: I managed this project, to undertake a Hydrographic survey for the AHO, which is used to update navigational charts, under the HIPP scheme. The HIPP scheme lays out rigorous requirements to ensure tight data tolerances  – far more so than other projects – to ensure a high level of confidence in the data used to update the chart information and depths.

In field Scope:

  1. Hydrographic Survey  (1674 km2)
  2. Tide Gauges, Current meters, deployed to seabed
  3. Sampling of seabed (grabs and cameras)
  4. GNSS land base stations

Challenges:

  • Utilising third party vessel
  • Weather and waves
  • Managing crewing
  • Demanding data and mobilisation specs
  • Working with multiple government stakeholders
